The night before
“Every journey has a secret destination of which the traveller is unaware.”
Martin Buber
What to expect
Tomorrow is day one. Tonight, you don’t need to do anything dramatic. Pour the last of anything in the house down the sink if you like, put some water in the fridge, and get an early night.
In your body
If you drink most days, your brain has adapted to alcohol. That’s why the first few days can feel jumpy. It passes, usually within days, and sleep starts to improve within a week or so.
Look out for
If you drink heavily every day, don’t stop suddenly on your own. Talk to your GP or call NHS 111 first: they can help you stop safely.
